Foundation Year

The textiles class deals with learning the basic techniques for making and decorating fabrics.  The student will be able to create collections of textile samples, which explore a particular technique, and then use it for appropriate clothing and/or accessories selection.  By learning how fabric is constructed and how to recognize the different kinds and quality of fabrics, the student will analyze what fabrics can be used in a garment.

Second & third year

The aim of this course is to build on the students  knowledge and experience with working with textiles and learn advanced techniques for making and decorating fabrics.  The student will create collections of textile samples which explore a particular technique and then apply it to appropriate clothing and accessory selections.  The student will manipulate fabric, make pleats, gather, tuck, and then realize a garment chosen with the professor.  Students will also create an embroidered piece on an accessory such as a bag, hat, etc..
