An Overview

During the July workshop, the Fashion Design students specializing in haute couture technique have the opportunity to construct their own garment based on either the Balenciaga fashion house or the Madame Grès draping technique. Students working on Madame Grès dresses use classic draping technique to complete their garments, under the instruction of Colette Picco – draper for Madame Grès for 24 years.

The following images show the completed dresses of students in the Couture Technique Summer 2017 workshop: Doris Amike (Nigeria), Mary Virginia Ayres (Shreveport, Louisiana), Sara Bennack (Lyford, Texas), Kassidy Brillhart (Kent State University, Ohio), Linda Diaz (Houston, Texas), Courtney Donnelly (Kent State University, Ohio), Joelle Genco (Kent State University, Ohio), Kathleen Huber (Kent State University, Ohio), Irina Litvin (originally from Russia; currently living in Rome, Italy), Nicole Markelz (Mountain View, California), Carolyn Schar (Aurora, Illinois), and Wing Tang (Wilmington, Delaware).
